If you thought that the patent wars were calming down with recent musings from certain companies about meetings and so forth you’d be wrong. Apple have just filed a new complaint with America’s International Trade Commission against HTC. Apple is claiming that twenty nine of HTC‘s newest handsets are infringing upon one of its patents, No. 5,946,647. That particular patent relates to a "… system and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data". What does that actually mean in English? Well Apple Insider are saying that it concerns a system for automatically detecting and identifying specific data such as numbers, email addresses and so on. Should the complaint be upheld by the Commission then HTC could find itself with a lot of devices stopped at the border.
