Join us for a day of Black cultural history preservation at the Chicago History Museum!
Bring your historical and cultural mementos including photos, letters and memorabilia for digital archiving at the 2024 Black Cultural Harvest!
Cultural Harvest staff will help to scan or photograph your artifacts and document the histories surrounding them for appreciation by future generations.
Designed to help preserve and celebrate the Black experience in Chicago, this one-of-a-kind community gathering will feature, music, food and interactive activities that recount and preserve some of Chicago’s most memorable moments and spaces.
The free, all-ages event is part of the City of Chicago’s Black Cultural Heritage Initiative (BCHI) and an ongoing effort to better preserve the physical assets of cultural groups that have endowed the city with a rich, shared identity.
Visitors can make appointments to scan documents and images up to 11 x 17 inches, or to photograph artifacts and mementos up to 12 x 12 x 12 inches. Participants will maintain possession of their objects at all times.
